I arrived in the historic town of Gettysburg, PA. on Wednesday July 11, 2007. The start of my vacation and my 6th trip to Bike Week. With kickoff parties within Gettysburg and the surrounding communities to start bike week.
Thursday had me going over to the Gateway to check out the Harley-Davidson demo fleet, vendors, and the very popular Budweiser Clydesdales. Then on to Battlefield Harley-Davidson, a major sponsor of bike week, to check out some venders and to visit the local dealer. If you are ever in Gettysburg, you have got to check out that dealership, one of the best looking I have seen. The night takes me to the The Pike for the ever so popular "pig roast", and what a party that is.
On Friday I finally make the rally site at the All star Events Complex, another sponsor, to par-take in the vender village and the other festivities scheduled for the day. One of the highlights this year is the Dale Earnhardt NASCAR Experience. One event that is becoming popular is the frozen t-shirt contest, one that kids of all ages can enjoy. The highlight for the night is the concert, this year it had live music by Cross Cut Saw.
Saturday has me doing the normal tourist thing, touring the battlefields. I have come here many times and this place never seizes to amaze me. Visiting the many shops throughout the town and the town square, it is definitely something to experience when you are here. The day brings night and on Saturday night during bike week comes the parade of chrome. Approximately 800 (where I stopped counting) bikes took part in the parade headed by the Budweiser Clydesdales. This is one event that is a must see during bike week. Later that night, at the All star Events Complex, there is live music by Classic Rock All stars. After the concert is the spectacular fireworks display.
Sunday brings a close to another successful year for Gettysburg Bike Week 2007.
Gettysburg Bike Week for me is one rally I will continue to visit. I really enjoyed taking the popular "gotcha" pictures and meeting the many people. A special thank you to the people of Gettysburg Bike Week, Inc. for doing such a tremendous job.
Speaking with John Summers, President and COO of Gettysburg Bike Week, Inc., it is their goal to make it a fun filled event that the whole family can enjoy. Making changes every year to better improve your experience and keep you coming back. Gettysburg Bike Week is becoming one of the east coast's popular rallies sites to venture to. I look forward to going next year and many more years after.
